Marie-Jeanne van de Velde (MJ), 15.10.1957 is a contemporary Flemish artist from Ronse, Belgium. Born with an artistic eye, and a passion for painting and sculpting. She attended art school in Ghent (Belgium). Her works are produced by incorporating everyday objects into her art. Her work can be abstract or figurative. Materials can take on an aesthetic or symbolic meaning within the context of the whole work, it can retain some of its original identity. Her path as an artist is multidisciplinary and covers a broad spectrum. Her career started as a professional painter in 1988 during that period she also became a gifted ceramist, always experimenting with new materials and techniques. Marie-Jeanne makes sculptures, ceramic objects and paintings. Attracted by the abstract, but also by the figurative, she seeks a solution between the two. Her works are also exhibited at home and abroad and her own gallery in Ronse (B). Each work is authentic and signed by hand. .
