We have a Judas tree in our garden. In late April it is a riot of colour. Bright pinks blaze against the blue skies of spring time. The painting, The Judas Tree, is a contemplation on betrayal. A betrayal of Nature in all its beauty, a betrayal of self and the magnificence of the individual. At the same time, the betrayal can be hidden if we wish to not acknowledge that, by simply not including the yellow joining piece when hung. You have a choice. It can send a message, or it can be purely decorative.
There are options as to how this painting is hung. In the main picture, it’s shown containing the yellow joining piece. If the two canvases are butted up together, without the joining piece, the tree is complete. The painting can also be hung in a corner for a very different effect.
This painting comes as three items: two canvases and a plywood joining piece with six screws. The joining piece is painted in phosphorescent yellow with a cracked finish and can be screwed to the back of the canvases.
