Meet Mariya Shaikh
Our life is a work in process, a spiritual journey. To me, art is a way of expressing the inexpressible. Through my art I would like to share this wonder of our existence – mystical stories. I like to have emotions simulate what I paint rather than a particular visual image. My work is predominantly figurative and representational. Places in my life and those I saw in my dreams – these visuals highlight positive image and inner beauty of Grace. Focusing on hidden powers and potential. My spirit for the search of true love responsibilities as active member of our society. As I evolve as an artist, I always ask to myself: “What is Grace?” What came first: our love for God or God’s love for us? I have gravitated towards abstraction and painting intuitively. Colors and beyond is how I would simply describe my work. I get inspiration from life itself, my spiritual journey, reading and meditating, but then I have to put everything aside. Somewhere between abstract and realistic expression, my artwork is an opportunity to consolidate the inner and outer worlds. Like a mirror, the outer journey seems to reflect an inner journey.
