Meet Danygil
Danygil (of her real name Danièle EL M'RABET born GIL) is a French painter (autodidact) born in 1962 in Oran, (Algeria).
While the war in Algeria came to an end and the country's independence was declared, the French people living in Algeria were forced to flee. It is 4 months old that Danygil, her brother and her parents find themselves forced to leave their home and were deported to France, taking only two suitcases, outfits wormed and the pram of Danygil.
The arrival on the French territory was very painful, because they felt uprooted in France, in their homeland, where they are treated like strangers. Despite the difficulties, she grew up in a loving and united family. It is through dialogue and exchange that she learned tolerance, respect and openness. Her father, Pierre GIL, who died in 2002, was a very talented painter (autodidact). Officer, he spent his spare time painting, using the knife, the brush and pastel. This is by observing him for hours that Danygil learned to draw and to paint.
She turned to other artistic and cultural disciplines: dance, theater, fashion and film. In June 2010, after thirty-three years of no practice and technique, it takes the tools, paints and canvases and started painting. Since then, she has completed nearly 150 paintings with different techniques and more than 400 pencil sketches, colour pastels, charcoal on different subjects and themes.
"I would like to set up cultural projects, particularly on art, in order to transmit and share my technique around me and for the advantage of others."
