This painting takes in the ancient city from the Tajos or gorge which flows past the city on two sides.
Today in the gorge the ruins of Medieval Mills can be discovered along the Riverside, some constructed by the Moors.
The Church of the Encarnacion now dominates the city, it replaced the Mosque during the early 16th century and was the first Catholic church to be erected in the Province of Granada.
