My painting ‘The Restoration of Bettie Page’ heads for its final stage. I have a strong premonition it can be completed soon. It just feels right to announce the birth of this painting by someone special. Who else could do that better than the High Priestess herself: Julia Filament? Both are equal in beauty, grace and feminimity. Often an artist is gifted with a gut feel for who to work with. There has to be a click between him and the model. With regard to Bettie that was at a distance for her era simply was not mine. Lucky for me Julia is alive and kicking and I would love to work with her again some day.
I kept the roundism styling quite simple since the focus primarily was on the stele. Lovely to see both models united in one piece. The Ankh neckless and golden ratio circle came at the end of the drawing. This way all elements concerning Bettie’s premonition are complete and tell the prelude to the oil painting. By the way, love that hair. She had it short for a while, equally beautiful. Long hair gives more possibilities for my personal cubist style though.
