This is a second prestudy for a commissioned piece, combining symbolic shapes with my personal roundism style. For some reason this one got a little realistic, even impressionistic due to the heavy use of chiaroscuro. I tried to keep it as abstract as possible. Consequently viewers could be tricked into believing angular, rectangular and round shapes to be real as much as possible. Furthermore I liked the light razing over her body. It lights up the protruding areas like hair, arm, shoulder, thigh and lower leg. The rest is covered by darkness. Great rhythm and therefor the drawings gains diction.
Once again my regular model posed for this one. She lay on my bed and at the top you can see a styled pillow. As an artist I still live in a small apartment, conveniently turned into my studio. I feel like living in my work space rather than owning a private house for years now. There is not much room for lush posing sessions. Actually my bed and couch in my living room are the two spots she can lay or sit for me. Sometimes I have visions of spatious country houses full of sofas, draperies, floor pillows and other paraphernalia. Perhaps they come true if you read this story and decide to buy a printable or even the original!
As stated it served as a prestudy for my oil painting ‘The Implicite Order – 11-03-20’. Initially that was sold to the same American collector who bought ‘The Implicite Order – 05-02-20 (sold)’. Then the pandemic broke and we lost contact. Maybe he reads this story eventually. In case he will: both are available for sale still.
