Roundism on December 25th for many people is a holiday. As to me, I just keep on drawing and this one I made this one afternoon at my parent’s home at Nijmegen. Just a quick intermezzo between painting sessions. It represents a ‘classic’ view on my own roundism style. I wonder what I will do next year and what mutations may come in this personal style.
In the first place I look at the reference picture for quite some time and in this particular case with some Christmas cake and wine. Then I saw that her triceps was running in a curve and when elongated downwards I could let it run over into the buttocks. This way I could make a nice swirl.
In conclusion I completed the drawing using some golden ratio curves. I am convinced they add to the flavor and the spectator will find them comfortable to look at, since all people are integral part of the ratio themselves. Thereupon I was eager to use the golden ratio curves in a commissioned graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – 11-01-20’.
