Avant même le fameux Pont des Soupirs, le Pont du Rialto est le plus célèbre pont de Venise pour son architecture et son histoire. C'est le plus ancien des quatre ponts du Grand Canal ayant été construit entre 1588 et 1591. Jusqu'au 19ème siècle, il était la seule possibilité de traverser le canal. Aujourd'hui avec son arche unique et la présence de boutiques (surtout de bijouteries), il est l'un des rares exemples contemporains de pont bâti.

Even before the famous Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge is the most famous bridge in Venice for its architecture and its history. It is the oldest of the four bridges of the Grand Canal having been built between 1588 and 1591. Until the 19th century, it was the only way to cross the canal. Today, with its unique arch and the presence of stores (especially jewelry stores), it is one of the few contemporary examples of a built bridge.
