Nightly
The reference picture of this nude was not to great. That is why I had to add a lot of things to it in order to make it more interesting and pleasant to look at. For example in the body I abstracted a lot of features. The halo that runs upwards from her hip is an addition as well. I also added the moon since the picture was gloomy enough. With this in mind I wanted to put the stress in the atmoshpere and evoke something spooky. Consequently this graphite pencil drawing became rather mysterious. Perhaps it contributes to the pensative or dreamy pose of the head. Might she anticipate the arrival of her lover or is she dreaming of him?
Roundism
Contrary to my previous rather cubistic drawing the result is a type of roundism where all kinds of forms reflect, rebounce and mimic other forms. Especially the roundness of the moon shape is repeated over and over again. It is one of those night paintings and drawings that are difficult to create. To portray the moonlight is to sacrifice a lot of light. However, in this one I think I managed to keep enough light to show exactly what I had to convey.
