Back to Roundism
Part of the roundism series, a continuation of the 'birth of new cubism series'. Albeit a radical different type of drawing the model is the same as in my graphite pencil drawing Nude – 08-04-16. Was that one rather sensual, slick and even surreal, this one is more in line with the roundism development as it stands today.
Flow and Blurry
As in previous drawings I liked to keep forms open in order to create flow. Besides that, I felt the need to create a feel of connectivity between positive and negative form. Forms look a bit blurry though but that is not very bothersome. A correct use of tonal gradients in body forms takes care of a necessary recognition of the body and scene.
Tonality
With regard to the tonality I decided to create a lot of midtones and gradients thereof. This way the atmosphere feels rather soft. A couple of highlights in the body did the rest. Next to this, I kept the recognition of her face rather low. A better recognition would certainly create an unwanted attraction to her facial features rather than consuming the entire scene.
